Writing A Report
An Accident I Witness
I was on my way to school on a good morning, when I witnessed a horrible and heart pained accident at Shagamu road along Oke – Odo, in the Alimosho area.
A little boy ran into the road in front of a lorry. If he had gone on running, he would not have been in danger, but he trod on an old piece of wood that someone had dropped and fell.
At once, Kunle stopped dreaming of food and he struggled to avoid hitting the child. His right foot press hard on the brake. His arms turned the steering wheel swiftly to the right. The lorry crashed into the wall of a house. Just at the spot, something hit the boy’s head, there were bruises everywhere with blood gushing out speedily. I held on to my head and pitied the poor little boy.
An Accident I Witness (Another example)
The sun was sinking below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the quiet suburban streets. It was a serene evening, the kind that lulls you into a false sense of security. Little did I know that within moments, the tranquility would shatter, and I would bear witness to a tragic accident.
I was walking home from work, enjoying the cool breeze and the gentle rustling of leaves. As I turned the corner, my attention was immediately drawn to a screeching sound that pierced through the peaceful atmosphere. My heart raced as I saw two cars collide in the intersection just ahead.
Without a moment’s hesitation, I rushed toward the accident scene, my adrenaline pumping. As I approached, a crowd had already gathered, their worried expressions mirrored my own. The damaged vehicles sat in a tangle of metal, smoke billowing from their crumpled hoods.
I could see a middle-aged woman, disoriented and visibly shaken, staggering out of one of the cars. Her face was etched with fear and shock as she clutched her chest, gasping for breath. Instinctively, I rushed towards her, extending my arm to steady her.
“Are you okay?” I asked, my voice filled with concern.
She nodded weakly, tears streaming down her face. “I…I think so,” she managed to say, her voice trembling.
As I turned my attention to the other vehicle, my heart sank. A young man, no more than twenty, sat slumped over the steering wheel, unconscious. Blood trickled down his forehead, his face pale and lifeless. Panic gripped the onlookers, but I knew we had to act quickly.
I dialed emergency services, relaying the details of the accident and requesting immediate medical assistance. The operator assured me that help was on the way, but time felt agonizingly slow as we waited for the sound of sirens.
The minutes stretched on, and the gravity of the situation weighed heavily on everyone’s shoulders. A few brave souls stepped forward, offering blankets and first aid supplies to tend to the injured woman. Together, we worked to keep her calm and stabilize her until professional help arrived.
Finally, the distant wail of sirens cut through the air, a ray of hope amidst the chaos. Within moments, paramedics and firefighters swarmed the scene, taking charge of the situation. They carefully extricated the young man from the wreckage, gently placing him on a stretcher. His condition was critical, but they did everything they could to stabilize him before rushing him to the waiting ambulance.
As the chaos began to subside, I stepped back, my mind racing with a mixture of relief and sadness. I had witnessed a life-altering event, and its impact would forever be etched in my memory. I couldn’t help but wonder about the lives that were forever changed by this accident, the ripple effect extending far beyond this intersection.
Days turned into weeks, and news of the accident spread throughout the community. The injured woman slowly recovered from her physical wounds, but the emotional scars remained. The young man, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries, leaving a void in the hearts of his loved ones.
The accident served as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. It highlighted the bravery and compassion that can emerge in times of crisis, as strangers come together to lend a helping hand. And it left an indelible mark on me, a reminder to always be vigilant on the roads and to treasure the gift of life.
